Connecting from a Windows 10 latop via SSH to an IAP-205

using PuTTY, I get some screen errors:

How do I configure PuTTY to correctly display?

it's possible the ap itself has a problem on the serial port (may have got a static shock at some point) - do you have other other device you can validate your cable on ? even if it's a switch/router with rj45 port etc., doesn't have to be another Aruba AP.

    Thank  for your suggestion!

Everything seems good when I try these adaptors on an AP-207 & keep PuTTY settings.

I tried myself on windows10 with usb-serial on my iap205 with firmware 6.5.4.3 and confirmed it just works fine with normal settings. see image in attachment.

I see this familair serial issues once before and that was a hardware failure of the serial chipset.

Update your AP to latest version, reboot them to factory reset. If that isnt working create a TAC ticket. T

Note that the IAP205 has lifetime warranty when purchase after 1 dec 2015 and your the first owner ;)

Note that limited lifetime warranty applies to (I)AP-205 regardless of when it was purchased. Yo do need to be the first owner though; LLW does not transfer.

This is the information from HPE regarding lifetime warranty.

    10) For products purchased after December 1, 2015, the warranty extends only for as long as the original end user owns the product and is limited to five (5) years from the end of sale date.

Aruba LLW and HPE LLW are not identical, but the HPE one was aligned with the Aruba one (by limiting it to 5 years post end of sale).

Aruba LLW applies to almost all AP models (few exceptions, 205 definiteoy included) purchased after 2009 or so. Which is not a limiting factor for the 205 platform.

Still only for the first owner, right?

    http://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/faq/FAQ_product_warranty.pdf

IS THE LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY TRANSFERABLE?

No, the Limited Lifetime Warranty ends upon transfer of the

    product to a new owner.
