I was under the impression that we could not connect a client(ie Laptop, phone, etc) to a mesh point or portal.  Then I was told at work that another engineer said it could be done.  I thought that the AP was either broadcasting as a normal thin AP or a Mesh AP(Used for backhaul).  Can someone please educate me?

Client support on the same radio as the backhaul started being supported in AOS 3.4. It is also supported on InstantAPs.

Ok, now that I know it can be done.  I have been searching the UG and can't find it.  How do I configure it?

As long as the "RF Band" parameter on the Virtual AP is "ALL", it will broadcast and accept client on both bands of that mesh AP.
