    I have a RAP-2WG.

The port E0 is connected to my router with DHCP.

The port E1 is connected to my PC.

My RAP receives an IP address but my pc never. I try to configure my RAP for the first time. Someone can help me?

You need to configure the e1 port profile / Wired AP under the AP group the RAP is assign to

Make sure that the VLAN you assign to the Wired AP exist in the controller

I can see the RAP in my controller. The documentation tell me this:

The remainder of this text is taken from the Release 6.0 User Guide page 849.

Connect the RAP Ethernet port 0 to the modem connecting to the internet - Ensure the internet modem can provide DHCP

Connect your PC to the RAP Ethernet port 1 - Ensure your PC Ethernet port is set for DHCP

Open a web browser and connect to

    http://rapconsole.arubanetworks.com/

    This is good?

When you use your browser it should redirect you to the rapconsole.arubanetworks.com or remote.arubanetworks.com

And then it should ask you to put the IP address of the controller

Have you added the RAP mac address to the controller whitelist table ?

I retry the entire configuration, maybe I forget something.

I connect the RAP on port 2.

I configure the port 2 with good vlan.

I add the MAC in the whitelist.

I see on my router the IP the RAP has.

After that, I try the http://rapconsole.arubanetworks.com/, I try the IP and I'm not able to enter in the configuration for the RAP.

Interesting have you try reseting the RAP to default factory just in case it had another config already.

Yes this is the first thing I do with the RAP.

Do you have another one available ? just in case that one is functioning properly or this is happening to all the RAP2's you have available ?

No only one and is the RAP from the Aruba formation.

I know the RAP received a IP address, but in the controller I don't see the RAP in the Configuration - Wireless > AP Installation > Provisioning.

The RAP is in the whitelist.

If I plug a AP I see it in the provisioning.

    - Make sure you have an ip rap pool so that the RAP can get an IP address

    - Port 4500/UDP needs to be allowed on your controller and firewall in between

The RAP IP POOL is on the controller? Where?

The address pool used by RAPs is under Configuration->Advanced Services->VPN Services...

Now I can see the RAP.

    But my question:

My routeur have a DHCP: 192.168.1.150-199

My controller have a DHCP for RAP: 192.168.1.205-208

This is true if I tell this:

RAP to controller, the IP address is 192.168.1.205

Controller to the router, the IP address is 192.168.1.150

    Question 2:

When I try to provision my RAP, I have two flag, L = Unlicensed; I = Inactive. What I have to do for the "Unlicensed"?

You have to make sure your controller has AP licensing to support your APs/RAPs , you can verify this running this command :

    show  ap license-usage

    AP Usage
    --------
    Type Count
    ---- -----
    Active CAPs 18
    Standby CAPs 0
    RAPs 0
    Remote-node APs 0
    Tunneled nodes 0
    Total APs 18

    Remaining AP Capacity
    ---------------------
    Type Number
    ---- ------
    CAPs 494
    RAPs 494

Victor responded to the licensing question with how to check that.

For your RAP testing, are you initially trying to connect the RAP to a controller with both the controller and the RAP's e0 port on the same physical subnet? Is it coincidence that both DHCP ranges are 192.168.1.x, or are both devices located nearby for testing?

I thought the DHCP controller must be on the same subnet.

I can put the DHCP for the RAP in a other subnet?

(controller) #show   vpdn l2tp local pool ---- To confirm whether or not it has been configured

(controller) (config) #ip local pool ?  ----- To configure the pool

<pool_name>             Configure local IP pool's name

The instructions you quoted would be for the initial configuration of the RAP in order to get it configured for the controller to connect to. Once the RAP has contacted the controller, it will download an updated configuration and overwrite that default. If you can see your RAP connected to the controller and online, then you've completed the initial steps successfully (or it was already configured to point to the correct controller).

The steps provided by Victor would allow you to configure the E1 port to either bridge over to your home network, or tunnel back securely to your RAP controller. You can use the screen shots that Victor provided to also verify the current configuration for the E1 port.
