Hi all,

I have a question about RAP: How many licenses consumes an Aruba RAP on the controller? Can I use 4 RAPs per 1 AP license?

I have this doubt because in some Aruba documents I see that, for example an Aruba650 Controller has a limit of 16 APs and 64 RAPs, an Aruba3200 Controller has a limit of 32 APs and 128 RAPs, and so on.

That's just the amount of APs or RAP you can attach to the controller. 

But the RAPs use the same licenses that the campus APs use.

You can run the following command :

show ap license-usage 

AP Usage

CAPs 
RAPs 
Remote-node APs 0

However I have another doubt; in the "AP Usage" list that you attach there are "RAPs" and "Remote-node APs" itmes. There is a difference between these two items? That is, there is a difference between RAPs model like RAP-2, RAP-3, RAP-5, and "normal" APs like AP-93, AP-105,.... configured as Remote APs, in term of licenses?

Beware that in version 6.2.x.x RAP : CAP limit is restrained to 1:1 instead of actuall 4:1. on 620/650 controllers so you might run into problems in future.

Once you configure the campus APs as Remote APs those will count as RAPs
