    Hello all!

I have a rap5 at a remote office and they are complaining about getting dropped and low signal strength. The unfortunately part of the equation is that they are in a shared space and the aps that are there seem to be massively interfering with the AP.

here's what I see  on the details of the AP:

    Default
    Radio Mode Access
    Clients 3
    Channel 1
    Noise Floor (dBm) -86
    EIRP (dBm) 21
    Channel Utilization       23%TX, 27% RX 4% interference

    Goodput (bps) 1.8 M
    Usage (bps) 206.6 K
    Frames 7.5 K
    Frames (to client) 6.1 K
    Frames Retried (to client) 6% (376/6.1 K)
    Frames Dropped (to client) 0%
    Frames (from client) 1.4 K
    Frames Retried (from client) 18% (261/1.4 K)

    Air Quality
    Channel 1
    Noise Floor (dBm) -86
    Channel Utilization     22%tx/25%rx/4%interference

    Channel Busy 56%
    Channel Free 44%
    Air Time (from ap) 24%
    Air Time (to AP) 29%
Rx Data Frames (heard from other radios) 34% (729/2.2 K)
    Interference 3%

    Tx/Rx Stats
    Clients 3
    Goodput (bps) 1.8 M
    Usage (bps) 206.6 K
    Bytes 1.5 M

    Frames Retried (to client) 6% (376/6.1 K)
    Frames Dropped (to client) 0%
    Frame Rates (to client)       2%-36-54, 10% 54-108 and 11% 108+

Goodput (bps) (to client) 1.2 M

    Frames Retried (from client) 18% (261/1.4 K)
    Frame Rates (from client)         6-12 - 1%, 12-24 2%, 24-36  3%, 36-54 22%, 54-108 5%, 108+ 66%

AP is currently located near the ceiling right now - not sure how they have it sitting - I'm trying to get them to move it to a desk to see if that helps. - Not really pleased with the -86 Noise Floor - not sure if there is anything I can do to improve that.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you

Why not set the RAP 5 to use the 5 ghz radio instead of the 2.4?

We needed to set it to 2.4 because of other network issues - unfortunately if it's set to 5ghz even if the network priority is set to wired, the wireless is still faster so the computer prefers that - which then causes issues eventually with AD authentication and the the backups we do just don't work - I can't figure out why - over wireless.

Your interference could be caused by something in the ceiling, so move it away from that.  In addition the RAP5 is not plenum rated, so you might want to sit it on a desk...

Yes, that is the next step, trying to work with the on site people to get it moved to a desk to see if that helps, hopefully in the next day or so I should be able to do that.

    Thanks
