Scaling AP to 10k

Hi,

I would like to ask how to make controller to manage up to 10k of AP?

Re: Scaling AP to 10k

You would need at least 5 7240 controllers. That doesn't include redundancy capacity. Have you reached out to your Aruba partner?

Re: Scaling AP to 10k

Hi Cappali,
How about the design?is it 1 master n the rest 4 controller become local?ap license need to install to every controller or install 10k license to master and use centralize licensing features?

Re: Scaling AP to 10k

Yes, you would need at least 1 additional 7240 as a master. Centralized licensing can be used.

You should work with your Aruba partner. We don't know enough about your network to recommend a design. What I've mentioned is just raw controller capabilities, not necessarily best practice design as that will vary greatly on your environment.

Re: Scaling AP to 10k

Yes, but that is a bare minimum just to support the AP count. There are many
other considerations.

Re: Scaling AP to 10k

Most deployments of this size would have at least 9-10 7240 controllers. Two would be the master and master backup, and you would have 6 local controllers splitting up the 10k APs, and 2 failover controllers. You could drop to 9 7240s with a single failover, but that's pretty tight.
