    Hiya,

We would like to operate two 3200 controllers on different sites to backup eachother's APs. One is the master controller of ther other.  I am a bit confused about licenses and AP numbers.

    Controller#1 has 8 local APs

Controller#2 (master) has 20  local APs and will have 14 remote APs

    Altogether there are 42 APs.

    My questions:

     - could the controllers backup each other?

     - shall we buy 42 licenses for both controllers? (in fact the number of APs remain, only the controller changes)

I would really appreciate any help in starting me understand "the way of Aruba" as it is not so clear for me. (get used to other vendor)

    Thanks

    Gabor

    Hi,

     - could the controllers backup each other? YEP.

     - shall we buy 42 licenses for both controllers? (in fact the number of APs remain, only the controller changes) YEP - because if your local will failover to the master, and the master will not have all the needed licesnses to support all the AP'S you will have a problem.

What i'm trying to say:If the local [with all the lic] will die :smileymad: - all the AP unit [if configured right]  will move to the master or other controller via lms/backuplms and then this controller need to have all the needed licenses for all your aps
