Looking at converting some AP61's to dedicted AMs and have been reading how you need to setup a new AP group and then go into RF management and change the mode. No issues - done that. Also read that there is no need for a VAP profile at all...

However - do you need to go into AP System Profile to tell the AM where to terminate using LMS or VRRP? Do AM terminate on a controller the same way as an AP? If not - how do you determine which controller "ap" licennce is used up by the AM?

    Cheers

    Wally,

AMs consume a license just like an AP, so you need to plan for license consumption just like an AP.  It needs to terminate on an active controller, of course.

    Colin

So the complete steps for an AM is therefore:

No Virtual AP required (ie not broadcasting an SSID)

RF Management set mode to AM

AP System profile - set LMS and backup LMS (or VRRP)

In effect same as an AP except for mode and lack of Virtual AP?
