    Hi,

I will have to simultaneously upgrade more than 1100 APs at the same time for one of my clients. Do you know if there are any limitations or known issue ? I didn't find anything in the documentation.

For example, if this is too much for the controller or the network ?

Controllers : Aruba 7240 XM x2 (dual/dual and ALL MASTER)

    AP : mix of AP103, AP105, AP125, AP135, AP205.

    Version : 6.4.2.7 to 6.4.4.17

    License OK (2048 AP)

    Thanks

Follow the upgrade instructions in the release notes.

Below is an overview, but still read the upgrade instructions in the release notes.

    1.  Backup the flash and copy it off of each controller

    2.  Upload the new version of software to the opposite partition that the controller is running on, but do not reboot any of the controllers.  If you need to downgrade later you would just switch the partition.

    3.  Save the logs with tech support off the master controller, so you would know how many access points were active.

    4.  Reboot all your controllers at the same time.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your answer.

However, I'm talking about the AP (Access Point), not about the controller.

Do you think upgrade more than 1100 APs at the same time (so with the upgrade for APs), will be OK for the controller without problem ?

    Thanks

To shorten the downtime you can pre-load the APs with the new image.

Preload has been disabled in some versions of ArubaOS temporarily.  http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Wireless-Access/ArubaOS-6-5-4-5-AP-Image-Preload/m-p/428959#M81107
