    Hi all,

how do I turn off WLAN transmission at night (defined time window) using Aruba Central managment system.

It is not about blocking the access only and keeping - but turning off the RF transmissions.

    Thanks

    Thomas

    Hi Nitesh,

thanks for poiting out the solution.

When all SSIDs are turned off that way - will this turn off the radio completely or will it only stop propagating the SSIDs.

The requirement is to turn off radio transmission at night for health protection reasons.

    Thanks

    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

As per my understanding, this applies to the SSID.

I think the best option is to have this controlled via switches in case your switches support some kind of POE based time-range.

Switches can turn off the POE on the ports where AP's are connected based off the time range profile that you configure on the switch itself.

Without POE, AP will be compleltely down.

I will also try to check in parallel if the time-range on IAP can help in stopping RF transmission completely.

    Hi Thomas,

Time based policy on IAP will only turn off the SSID's & not the radio itself.

The best option is to check if your switches support time range based POE allocation.

    Hi Thomas,

Are you using IAP's in mesh mode ?

Please share the model number of IAP's being used as well.

    Hi Nitesh

In this case it is a single IAP.

    Does this make a difference?

    Regards
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

If it is single IAP on the network, there won't be mesh involved as it will require another IAP to set up mesh.

Please share the model number for the IAP

    Hi Nitesh

    I'm using a 303H (RW).

    Thanks!

    Hi Thomas,

In we are not using mesh ,

Radio will be turned off once all SSIDs are disabled on 1xx and 3xx platforms.

As you are using 303H, radio will be off as soon as SSID's are disabled due to time range getting kicked in.

    Hi Nitesh,

thanks for your help and clarification.

Is there a way to check the state of Radio on the AP, to confirm it is turned off completely?

    Thanks

    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

    show ap bss-table

The above command output will be empty if IAP is not broadcasting any SSID on the network.

    We can also check :

    show ap debug radio-stats

We can check the Rx/Tx values to make sure they are no incrementing at all.
