VLAN Pool vs Large Subnet

Years ago, it was Aruba's best practice to pool multiple VLANs (/24s) in a VAP profile. Recently, I have heard rumblings that it may be better practice now to just use a single, large subnet (/21 instead of a pool of 8 /24s). What do you guys recommend?

Re: VLAN Pool vs Large Subnet

I'd recommend going large if your switching infrastructure can handle it. The broadcast/multicast opptimisation technology has come a long way since /24 VLAN pools were the recommended best practice. Deployment critera do vary though so /24 VLAN pools are still a valid option.

Here's an article on best practice to implement a large subnet.
