Hello, 

I am currently working with VisualRF Plan. I have one computer that several versions of VisualRF Plan have ran flawlessly on (lower-end HP workstation w/ Windows7 and 4GB of ram). I have also attempted to install VisualRF Plan on my Parallels virtual Windows7 PC and also on a Dell XPS laptop that has Windows 8.1. On these two computers I can create the campus, buildings, etc. just fine. When I import the floorplan, the import is successful but once I click save and close the floorplan never reappears for me to add APs, draw walls, etc. VisualRF Plan simply returns to the screen with the loading animation and never shows the floorplan. if you click the refresh button, it states that it cannot display the floorplan. 

The floorplan file type that I am using is JPG and PNG, although I have tried several other formats as well with the same results.

I have adjusted the IE security settings to virtually nothing. I have ensured the Windows has been updated on both PCs and that I am also running the latest version of VisualRF Plan (which works fine on the first computer that I mentioned). 

Would anyone happen to have an idea as to how I could start troubleshooting these issues?

Update:

I have tried to uninstall/reinstall VisualRF Plan on the virtual Win7 and also the Win8.1 laptop. Each device I followed the same procedure as follows:

1. Uninstall VisualRF Plan

2. Reboot PC

3. Install VisualRF Plan

This made no difference, and the errors/timeouts still exist.

Upon further reading in the VisualRF Data directory I noticed a file called  VisualRF.txt. The contents contain several errors seeming to be related to Java. (Shown below:)

These errors are all located around what the time entry would be for the last time I tried to execute VisualRF on this PC. The other PCs that I have tried to get VisualRF working on have also displayed the same results with different time stamps corresponding to when I have executed VisualRF Plan. There seems to be permissions errors in the logs, however I am logged in as Administrator and have also even explicitly applied NTFS permissions to all files (except system files) as full control.

I have also tried to update/remove/reinstall JRE. Additionally, I have also tried using older versions of VisualRF Plan in which the installer gives me an error about a command line switch that is illegally used. (The thinking was to upgrade an older version in which the only computer that I have where VisualRF is working correctly on.)

I had a similar issue that is now resolved. Try the following:

Update Java

Update Flash

Uninstall 7.7

Install 7.6 - test to make sure it works

Uninstall 7.6

Install 7.7 and test again.

In Windows 8 you may need to run in compatibility mode I believe.

Also with a virtual machine, you need to turn off sharing from your local machine to the VM.

Was the install done using WinXP compatibility mode?

I have this issue as well on both Win 7 and 8. I've tried running the installer in compatibility mode for XP SP3 and 7 and also with no compatibility.

No luck. After importing a floorplan (either jpg or DWG), the application just spins.

Did you try installing 7.6, uninstalling, and then 7.7? That worked for me after Java and Flash were up to date.
