Hey,

I just downloaded and installed VisualRF Plan v7.7 onto my windows 8.1 64bit OS. But it can not import AutoCAD files (Error message is attached). I tried to run VisualRF Plan in compatibility mode but no help. I am still in the learning process of this software.

Please advise.

Hello Shuai Yu.

I had the same problem few days ago and here is how I fix this issue, I hope it fix yours too..

Before install 7.7 make sure your computer is running Java 7 Update 45 and Update 45 (64bit)

Now go to control panel and look for Turn windows features on or off and make sure .Net Framework 3.5 is enable.

Install Visual RF plan, wait for the installation... If you are ready to upload your CAD file is optional if you remove some of the layers, as we know CAD files are huge.. So you can make it light and remove some extra layers..

And there you go.. You just upload your CAD file... 

If for some reason you still having the same issue.. Install the application using program compatibility troubleshooter...

Right click on the application then select troubleshoot compatibility..

select Test the Program..

When you finish the installation save the setting..

Thanks for the detail steps but did not work for me.

I installed Java 64bit, make sure .NET3 is enabled and re-installed visualRF plan and ran the troubleshooting and even run the app with administrator right... did not work for me.

I also tried to hide all but 1 layer in AutoCAD file, still did not work.

Maybe it is my AutoCAD file issue. Is it possible you can share your dwg file with me to have a try?

That's weir.. Try this CAD... I just uploaded the CAD below  to my RF and works fine..

So my question: will the v7.7 compatible with windows 8.1 64bit?

We've got it running on several 64-bit installs.  I'll double check with the team to see if they're testing on Win8 or 8.1.

I'm running Win 8.1 64-bit and I dont have any problem.. but.. let's try one more thing my friend..

Unistall all the RF Software, restart your PC and install RF 7.5 using  Troubleshoot compatibility..

When you finish the installation if you have this message below please click "NO"  DO NOT run the scripts..and then you will see the CAD file.

This is really interesting...it asks me for login now after I click your link...

Either I was able to somehow bypass the user check OR aruba recently changed download policy...I was able to download v7.7.

Anyhow, if it is required to have a valid product serial number in order to download, I might try with the free Dell version.

Good news for me, might not be to you :)

I downloaded Dell Version 7.7 b431.

I installed it via compatible testing and it works on my windows 8.1...

In the case that it's still not working, we've filed defect number DE16933 to look into this further.  We've seen it work and not work on different setups in the lab.

I'm not aware of any direct customer visibility of defects, but a simple email to support asking status of the defect should get you the answer you're looking for.

We are experiencing this issue as well (with PDF file for floor plans).

We have tried various install and uninstalls with different java codes.

Does anyone from Aruba have any update on this? 

Our reason to pick this version was the availability of AP225's in the device list.

Is there any other version we could use?

How many floor plans are in the PDF file?  The import only takes the 1st floor plan of a PDF file (current limitation of the import tool used).  Also, is there any crashes in the VisualRF.log file when you attempt import?  I suggest opening as a support case for tracking purposes.

One floor per pdf file

I fixed it by installing an older version then installing the 7.7-440 on top and it worked fine.  It wouldn't work on a clean install.
