    Hi everybody,

I've been reading about PAPI protocol but I've not understand at all what's the main function of this protocol.

As I understand the GRE tunnel encapsulates the client traffic between the AP and the Aruba controller, and the PAPI protocol is used to communicate the controller with the APs as well, but in which way are they communicating with each other??? What kind of information is being transmitted through this protocol, due to there're heartbits each 60 seconds (default) between them, and if the lose the communication will cause the AP either to rebootstrap or reboot.

Thanks in advance for the friendly hand :smileyhappy:

    HI

Process Application Programming Interface (PAPI - 8211) -

AP and controller communicate via PAPI (UDP port 8211).

PAPI is used for config download and control channels for ARM and Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) communication to the master controller.

    Hi guys,

Is this PAPI communication encrypted or sent in clear? Is it sent over a tunnel such as GRE or IPSec or not?

    Regards,

    Julián

    Hi Julian,

PAPI with CPSEC enabled on your controllers is encrypted otherwise it is not.
