The software needed for AP-303 (both AOS and Instant, 8.3.0.0) is still in beta stage, and has not been released.

You can download the beta image from the Aruba support portal, and upgrade the image on the AP (Instant) or controller (AOS).

The AP units themselves ship with a basic/incomplete version of the 8.3.0.0 code, which cannot be used to run the AP in operational mode.

The IAP 8.3.0.0 software for the IAP-303 is available here:

    https://support.arubanetworks.com/DownloadSoftware/tabid/75/DMXModule/510/Command/Core_Download/Default.aspx?EntryId=29671

You may need a valid support contract in order to download from that link.

I'm not sure what you mean about the software being dragged from the support site. It's still there, for both IAP and controller based.

When you power on the AP-303, if a virtual controller or Mobility Controller is not detected, the AP will automatically become (create) a virtual controller for itself.
