changing the default gateway in Aruba controller using floating static routes

hi Team , i have aruba 7210 controllers working in master-backup modes.   i would like to change the gateway for these controllers which is a simple process, what i am asking is if i can add a floating static route so that i dont have to do console access while changing the gateway.

right now i have the following config

(UAM-ECGAU-MB00MDF-WC02) #show ip interface brief

Interface                   IP Address / IP Netmask        Admin   Protocol
vlan 225                  172.31.248.3 / 255.255.255.0     up      up
vlan 1                      unassigned / unassigned        down    down
vlan 82                  206.221.82.24 / 255.255.254.0     up      up
vlan 2                   206.221.81.13 / 255.255.255.192   up      up
vlan 666                     10.0.0.50 / 255.255.254.0     up      up
loopback                    unassigned / unassigned        up      up

(UAM-ECGAU-MB00MDF-WC02) #
(UAM-ECGAU-MB00MDF-WC02) #
(UAM-ECGAU-MB00MDF-WC02) #
(UAM-ECGAU-MB00MDF-WC02) #show running-config | include default-gateway
Building Configuration...
ip default-gateway 206.221.82.60

i wud need to change the management from vlan 82 to vlan 2 , in fact i do the following as well on the controller

Gateway of last resort is 206.221.82.60 to network 0.0.0.0 at cost 1
S*    0.0.0.0/0  [1/0] via 206.221.82.60*
C    172.31.248.0/24 is directly connected, VLAN225
C    206.221.82.0/23 is directly connected, VLAN82
C    206.221.81.0/26 is directly connected, VLAN2
C    10.0.0.0/23 is directly connected, VLAN666

please help with floating static route

I cannot say that has ever been done successfully.

Re: changing the default gateway in Aruba controller using floating static routes

u mean than having console access is the best way of doing this ?

first i change the gateway on the primary controller and then followed by the secondary controller ?

for the access points i have a separate vlan running (non-routable) and i have configured VVRP between the controllers .

so when i change the gateway on the primary controller, what would happen to the access points, would they try to hop on to the secondary controller ?

any comments please

If the access points cannot find the first controller, they will try to find the second controller, yes.

The console is the best way to do this.

I would set aside a couple hours for this procedure to make sure you are successful.
