controller 7010 fan question

Hello

I got  a question regarding this

Yesterday we unpacked a 7010 controller, we were configuring it and all that..

i was there a couple of hours and everything seems to be normal.

Today the controller seems to have the fans of the controller on at max speed and its making a lot of noise like if the fans were going to full speed and it does not turn it off or reducce the speed.   Is this normal?

because yesterday  it was not noisy, the noise was really small... but today its really noise

Here is the output of the temperature

Can anyone tell me if this is normal???

Re: controller 7010 fan question

Carlos,
What is your PoE consumption on the 7010? The chassis will heat up with increased PoE output.

Best regards,

Madani

* Made a correction, it should have been heat not hear.

Re: controller 7010 fan question

I just got 2 AP 225 connected and one computer thats all.

Also i had those 3 devices connected yesterday the whole time and the noise was not like today...

Cheers

Re: controller 7010 fan question

Carlos,

Yeah that isn't much at all. Let me check with engineering on the expected fan rates versus temperature.

Re: controller 7010 fan question

Carlos,

Also what version of AOS are you running on the 7010?

Best regards,

Madani

Re: controller 7010 fan question

6.4.1.0

I tried upgrading to 6.4.2.0 but went i did my 2 AP 225s went to air monitor so i had to roll it baack, and i got a ticket open for this scenario specifically

Cheers

Re: controller 7010 fan question

Carlos,

I'm still working on getting more details on the temperature versus fans however I have confirmed that in 6.4.2.0 we did change the fan algorithm to make the system quieter.

Best regards,

Madani

Re: controller 7010 fan question

Madani

The controller is again not that noise... the Fans are not going at full speed

Might be the temperature.  When i did the commands i was remotely.

If you can send me the table of the temperatures and the fan speed i can monitor with it.

But i do see many temperatures sensors and i would like to know which one i need to pay attention

this one? U45 - LM95233 Local Temp      31 C (near DDR3)

This one?  Q8  - LM95233 Remote 1 Temp   30 C (near intake right side edge

this one? Q12 - LM95233 Remote 2 Temp   32 C (near SFP ports)

this one? U14 - ADT7476 Local Temp      39 C (near exhaust left side edge)

or this one? U26 - ADT7476 Remote2 Temp    61 C (98DX3036 internal die temp)

Cheers

Carlos

Re: controller 7010 fan question

Madani Nice to know that on  6.4.2.0 you guys made the changes to make it quiter

The thing is that i canno upgrade it to that firmware because the APS goes to air monitor for no reason so im stuck on 6.4.1.0 :(

Cheers
