i was wondering if it is possible to transmit less SSIDs (so with less virtual APs, or with virtual APs disabled or ....) when an AP is on the backup LMS?
any other solution to do something like this are welcome also.
If you have two controllers with different configurations, you can do this. The LMS would have all the SSIDs advertised. The backup LMS would have less SSIDs advertised. There is no way to do this on a single config.

wanted to confirm that indeed, thank you.
This is exactly a feature request I have in. Basically if an ap is connecting to the backup-lms-ip, it gets served up a different config.

Michael Clarke, would using bridged SSIDs allow the WLAN to stay useable even if only the managed traffic goes over the WAN in a failover situation?
yeah, that was exactly what I was thinking. Local controller up, ssid is tunnelled, but in failover, the ssid is bridged.
I sort of meant, make it bridged all the time....
