lower data rates

Hi,

Is it true that  we should not  disable  lower data rates  to save airtime like 1 ,6 Mbps.

If its true what reason ?

Thanks

Re: lower data rates

Take a look at the VHD VRD which discusses data rates in great detail.

There is also an RF optimization wizard on ASE.

Re: lower data rates

Hi,

Maybe Jeromy is pointing something else . My understanding might be wrong :)

Here is the statment
802.11b and 802.11a set default data rates to make sure that all stations would understand all modulation in the (new in those days ) protocols

Thanks

Re: lower data rates

There is no single answer, it is dependant on many variables. Client type and enviroment details are probably the biggest determining factors.

Here's some thoughtful writing on the topic- http://www.sniffwifi.com/2016/01/why-you-shouldnt-disable-low-wi-fi.html (Take with grain of salt before you apply generic advice to your specific environment.)
