Does each mesh point need to "see" a mesh portal ?

    Put in another way:

normal topology:   mesh point ------ mesh portal ------ mesh point

Or is this also possible ?

mesh portal ------ mesh point ------ mesh point

The latter.  A mesh point can mesh with another mesh point, yes.

Chapter 6 of the Aruba Outdoor MIMO Wireless Networks VRD explains all of the valid topologies, and the reasoning behind them.   With good illustrations.

Does this hold true for indoor ? Looking to use AP-105.

I currently have only 2 lab units...
