I have a customer that still uses PEAP-GTC to authenticate.

I adviced them to 'upgrade' to PEAP-MSCHAPv2  but didn't receive immediate approval to do so but rather write a small rapport with the merrits of this change.

So my question: what are the arguments for replacing PEAP-GTC with radius?

'Way easier', 'no aditional client' and 'better troubleshooting' are all valid reasons to me but might not convince management that opposes change.

So, is there another pressing reason to do this change? Security? Compatibility? Something along those lines?

No machine authentication and the need to install software on every client. It seems like an easy decision if it is possible.
