#show ap arm history..explanation required?

Would someone be able to kindly explain to me what and why I am seeing the below? The way I am understanding is that there is interfernece on CH100, so the AP has moved to CH140. However I have a few questions.

- Why is this doing it every few seconds, is it due to the continous channel scans in the background?

- Why is it recording this information since there is no change in channel or power?

Re: #show ap arm history..explanation required?

What version of ArubaOS is this?

Do you have scanning enabled in the ARM profile?

What channels are in your regulatory domain profile?

Re: #show ap arm history..explanation required?

Hi, the controller is running Version 6.4.3.2, scanning is enabled in the ARM profile and we have the below in our reg domain profile :

Regulatory Domain profile "default-UK-noDFS"

Country Code                       GB
Valid 802.11g channel              1

Valid 802.11g channel              13
Valid 802.11a channel              36
Valid 802.11a channel              40
Valid 802.11a channel              44
Valid 802.11a channel              48
Valid 802.11g 40MHz channel pair   1-5
Valid 802.11g 40MHz channel pair   7-11
Valid 802.11a 40MHz channel pair   36-40

Re: #show ap arm history..explanation required?

That is not right. Your regulatory domain does not have channel 100 in a channel pair.

Re: #show ap arm history..explanation required?

Hi Colin, apoligies, the regulatory domain profile shown above was the one I changed to after the issue occured. The default profile which was used when the issue occured has channel 100 configured.

Regardless of the above, do we know why the AP is is scanning every second and recording that output? Since I changed the reg domain profile to use the non-DFS channels I can see this has settled down and now remains on AP36 (see below).

What is the cause of this behaviour?

Re: #show ap arm history..explanation required?

An access point will change channels because of interference immediately. If you only have one channel configured and you have interference, that is the result..

Re: #show ap arm history..explanation required?

Hey Colin, thanks for the prompt reply. I understand this but based on the above output in the previous post :

ARM has detected interference on CH100 at 2015-11-25 13:03:56 then continues to scan every second until 2015-11-25 13:04:27. During this entire period the AP is on CH104. So why the every second behaviour?

Re: #show ap arm history..explanation required?

You still have not shown the correct regulatory domain profile. It can detect interference at any time. It looks like yours is persistent..

Re: #show ap arm history..explanation required?

You should open a tac case. They would have to look at your logs and exact configuration as well as the changes you made. I cannot guess based on the information here.
