I am a K-12 with 4000+ remote ap environment.  I am tring to convert to a tunneled network.  The tagging ID of 411 and 911.  These vlans defineded on our brocade switch network.  When I assign a vlan to my VAP profile do I need to define an ipaddress and a dhcp-helper address on the controller vlan?

    vlan 411

    ip address xx.xx.xx.xx

    ip dhcp-helper xx.xx.xx.xx

If your L3s are upstream of the controller, then you do not need them on the controller.

The one exception to that rule would be if you are using a captive portal. In that case, you do need an IP on that subnet.

Does the controller Vlan IP have to be in the same subnet?

If you are doing captive portal, yes
