How do I enable auuthentication messages to show in syslog?

    I have a 7210 contoller running 6.4.3.8

I have tried this. Not sure if something changed in the versions.

Did you type "show log security 50" to see if you see the messages on the commandline of the controller?  That post was originally 7 years ago, by the way..

    I did.

It was edited 2 years ago. Might be time to edit again.

As suspected, the command has changed.

This is what worked for me

logging level informational user process authmgr
