SSID is the name of the WLAN network Name Like when you login to access dlink name of an access point

but what trying to understand BSSID is it the MAC address of access point,

One access point can have many SSID profiles,

but how come the access point have multiple MAC addresses Multiple BSSIDs?

    Regards,

Thanks, i read it, but what i am asking about this part:

the BSSID is the MAC address of the wireless access point (WAP) generated by combining the 24 bit Organization Unique Identifier (the manufacturer's identity) and the manufacturer's assigned 24-bit identifier for the radio chipset in the WAP

is the wireless access point has more than one MAC address,

    Regards,

Every access point has a wired mac address.  If you add a wireless network, the mac address gets incremented and that is broadcast and used for communication in the air over wireless.  If the wireless network is broadcast on dual bands (a and b/g), it gets incremented again and that is used for communication and broadcast as well.  If you use a packet capture tool you will see the wireless mac addresses in the air.  You can also see what access points broadcast what BSSIDs with the command "show ap bss-table"

The explanation of how the mac addresses are derived is here:  https://arubanetworkskb.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/FAQ/How-is-the-BSSID-derived-from-the-Access-Point-ethernet-MAC-address

Sorry, where exactly are you running those CLI commands from? Is there an interface within the Controller's browser page?

From a terminal session when you SSH into the controller.

Sorry, I'm sure this seems elementary, but does that mean there is no way to run  #show ap bss-table ap-name from within the Controller browser page?

(I'm just trying to get a complete list of BSSIDs grouped by the AP they belong with)

Diagnostics> General> SSH Terminal on the GUI (java).

Or, you can use an SSH client.
