Enterprise Domains in IAP

Q:

How many Enterprise domains URL can be configured in Instant AP RAPNG Environment?

A:

By Default all the DNS requests from a client are forwarded to the clients DNS server. So in a typical IAP deployment without VPN configuration, client DNS requests are resolved by the clients' DNS server. However, when an IAP is configured for RAPNG this behavior changes. The DNS behavior of an IAP network (SSID/wired port) configured for RAPNG is determined by the enterprise domain settings. The enterprise domain setting on the IAP defines the domains for which the DNS resolution must be forwarded to the clients' default DNS server. For instance, if the enterprise domain is configured for arubanetworks.com, then DNS resolution for hostnames in arubanetworks.com will be forwarded to the clients' default DNS server and the DNS resolution for hostnames in all other domains will be Scr-NATed to the local DNS server of the IAP.

Note: Configuring * instead of a domain name in the Enterprise domain list will forward all DNS requests to the clients' default DNS server.

NOTE: with the current version we can add up to 4 Enterprise domains URL

Configuration Output: (Test Performed on 8.6)

TACLAB-IAP315-2 (config) # internal-domains

TACLAB-IAP315-2 (domains) # domain-name abc.com

TACLAB-IAP315-2 (domains) # domain-name abc1.com

TACLAB-IAP315-2 (domains) # domain-name anc2.com

TACLAB-IAP315-2 (domains) # domain-name abc3.com

TACLAB-IAP315-2 (domains) # domain-name abc4.com -------> 5th Enterprise Domain URL

TACLAB-IAP315-2 (domains) # exit

TACLAB-IAP315-2 (config) # exit

TACLAB-IAP315-2# commit  apply

committing configuration...
