How to configure Facebook WiFi in IAP?

By esupport posted Jul 16, 2015 07:27 AM

IAP running and above code version.

To use Facebook Wi-Fi:

  1. Connect to the wireless network.
  2. Launch your web browser (ex: Firefox).
  3. Your browser will open automatically to the business’s Facebook Wi-Fi Page.

Step 1: Create SSID on IAP

On UI page, click “New” in “Networks” tab.

Input SSID name, then click “Next” to go to VLAN page.

Step 2: Configure Vlan assignment. Here we are using default settings.

Step 3: In “Security” page, select “Facebook” in “Splash page type”

Step 4: In “Access” page, don’t change anything, click “Finish”.

By now, SSID is created for Facebook WiFi and the IAP will starts register to Facebook automatically. There is a link in “Security” page in SSID, it presents registration is done

The link on “Security” page of SSID to bind Facebook page with VC, it would prompt login with your Facebook account.

Regarding the possibility to browse https websites and applications before logging in, this is due to the intrinsic necessity to allow https traffic because facebook is a https website... and by the way all the websites are going to move to https.

I had a session with the support and it has not been possible to change this behaviour even by creating a specific rule that allowed https only to "".

I also had different behaviours with different clients (windows laptops, macbooks, android or ios devices, different OS releases..), some of them didn't open the splash page, some could access every page even without logging in, etc.

So, basically, the facebook login is a massive fail.

Now I can't even see the link to configure the login, and this document doesn't clarify how and when the IAP should register to Facebook (what does this means?).

in the Step 3: In “Security” page, select “Facebook” in “Splash page type”

I can't see the facebook config link even after completed setup step 4, any body have solotion for it?

The situation continue, if you configure Facebook authentication, the end user can use other apps and access internet without push botton LIKE on Facebook Business Page;

The end user only can´t access any web page without authentication

Have anyone solved this problem. It was easy to set up the Facebook Wi-Fi according to this instructions. But as previous users I experince that you can use the internet without loging in to facebook, especially when using phones and tablets. I guess there should be a solution to this problem but how?

same issues: can surf https without authentication. I try to use the pre-auth role but it does not help.

I Have the same problem with iap205 and ArubaInstant_Taurus_6.4.4.3-

With a notebook we have directly a redirect page with facebook authentication but you can open a new tab and if you use https://... you can surf without authentication . If you use http you are directly redirect to facebook authentication page.

With android or ios doesn't work correctly you don't have splash page . Idem of notebook ... if you use https you can surf without authentication .

Do you have a solution ?

Thanks in advance

We found a problem with Facebook, login, in an Android device, 1) Not exist the splash page, the user need to open a browser to target a Facebook register page. 2) Can use any Internet service (whatsapp, facebook app, email, etc) without click Register in Facebook page.

If only marks the facebook box, and do not set the IAP remains offline and does not allow the connection. And you have to reset it as the only option.
