What is the source port number used by IAP for DNS traffic while using Local DHCP scope for WLAN Client.



A:

The current behavior is that, when DNS traffic goes out of the IAP for a customized Local DHCP scope, the source port number will be always 3000 and the source IP will be IAP’s IP address.

 

As can be seen below, a customized local DHCP scope has been created for the SSID "test1".

 

 

 

From IAP's uplink capture, we can see it uses Port number 3000 as source for DNS. This applies to all customized Local DHCP scopes types.
