    Hello all,

I have read that campus AP's such as the 305 can be converted to Instant using some CLI commands, is this correct. I remember from years ago this was not possible.

    Hi Dustin,

That is a post on how to convert a campus AP back to and IAP, not how to convert a campus AP, that has never been an IAP to an IAP.

This should work as long as your AP-305 can run as an IAP. By default an IAP will come up as an IAP unless it detects and joins a controller on first boot. You can tell if its a Unified AP (IAP capable) by the model number on the AP itself. Do you have access to see this?

Provided your controller(s) run AOS 8.6 or newer, you can convert CAPs to IAPs with the command "ap convert"

Procedure can be found in the AOS 8.6 user guide:

    Hi.

You can do it from the controller and there is another procedure.
You must enable telnet access to the CAP in the controller configuration and put a password for telnet.
Access to the AP and execute:

    Shift+Ctrl+Alt+K
bootenv -j -> this command is to see the variables
    bootenv -s
    bootenv -p os_partition=1
    bootenv -p uap_controller_less=1

    Then reload the ap.

    Hi,

check this article - but read carefully as there are some limitations !
    https://community.arubanetworks.com/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MID=32849
So you should not use such AP's in any production environment for LAB it would be OK.
