We have a VC Controller i535 AP, with about 23 other 535 AP's on 2 floors.  The Dashboard Overview of the AP's show both radios Noise (dBm) level at -96dBm.
That seems elevated to me, but I cant find any docs that say what the range should be normally.
We are fighting with a small section of the second floor that has poor reception quality with 5G signal.  The serving AP is about 25 ft from the CEO's office, and a Scan shows what looks like the radio [5G] having a strong signal in one direction, unfortunately away from the CEO's office.  Offices are aluminum studs, insulation and drywall, nothing special.
Are there technical docs that show Power and dBm loss best practices?

    Thanks

-96dBm isn't too bad. If you have a -65dBm signal, you get a 31 dBm signal-to-noise which is quite good. Be aware that that is measured at the AP. If you have an interferer close to the user, it may not be visible to the AP, but it may affect the user.

Just checked another AP here, that is is -92dBm noise floor.

Do you have the equipment to do spectrum analysis? Or heatmapping near to the problem area?

The same user in a different location does not have any issues?

What comes to mind is if your CEO is actually connecting to the nearest AP? It could be that the most optimal AP  has selected a channel that the client does not support hence the sub-optimal performance. You can also take the practical approach and place an additonal AP on the CEO desk and see if it improves.

LOL... that is indeed what sometimes happens when there are issues at the CEO office... just place another AP under the desk.

We did use Eakhau Pro for the spectrum analysis.  That's how we found the only section on the floor that has crappy 5G. The rest of the floor was great.   And of course, its the CEO and President's office area.  No environmental issues or anything in that area to speak of.  No cell antennas, no HVAC or anything on the roof above.  It really looks like the AP [located in the top green office] has a directional antenna.  We did a scan on the floor below this area, and that area signal is strong.

So, we are in fact placing another AP in his office, to see if that solves the immediate issue, then will re-scan in a week.
