    Hi, everyone.

     

    Why doesn't AP535 support 4.8Gbps?

    Do you know the difference between the two?

     

     

    AP515 Wi-Fi radio specifications

    802.11ax (5 GHz): 3.6 to 4,803 (MCS0 to MCS11, NSS = 1 to 4, HE20 to HE160)

     

    AP535 Wi-Fi radio specifications

    802.11ax (5 GHz): 3.6 to 2,402 (MCS0 to MCS11, NSS = 1 to 4, HE20 to HE160)

    I'd expect there is an error in the datasheet here. The MCS, NSS, and channel-width show the same, so the data rate should be the same in my opinion. I'll get this verified.

     

    This highest rate is nothing you will reach in practice as it requires very strong signals to reach MCS11, 160MHz channels, and 4 working SS at the same time which is probably only achievable in a lab. The AP535 has a higher capacity in clients and performance and is recommended for high-density deployments.

    The info in the datasheet is accurate, but somewhat confusing.

     

    The AP-535 drops to a max of 2 spatial streams (NSS=2) when operating in 160MHz bandwidth (80+80), while the AP-515 supports all four spatial streams in that case (contiguous 160). These capabilities are directly related to what the WLAN chipsets can do (so non-negotiable..)

    This is just "specmanship" though. It is very unusual for an enterprise customer to use 160MHz channels, very few client devices support 160MHz, and there are no 4SS client devices (and MU-MIMO has limited efficiency).

    Somewhat similar to the use of 40MHz in 2.4GHz..
