    Hi All,

I am currently going through the process of upgrading our office LAN using Aruba 8320 as the core switches using VSX and Active Gateways, however I was wondering if you can configure a secondary Active Gateway on the same VLAN?

I have tried to look through the configuration commands but it I cannot find any obvious options and if I try to add another active gateway with different IP address and MAC it just overwriters the original, I have also looked online but there does not seem to be a lot of documentation at the moment.

Ideally I would like to seperate these IP ranges onto different VLANs or assign a new larger subnet to the VLAN but for various reasons this is not possible.

I am currently running version 10.01.0048, please let me know if you need more information.

    Hi,

according to "ArubaOS-CX Virtual Switching Extension (VSX) Guide for 10.02", Chapter 3 VSX, subchapter "Active gateway over VSX":

    Requirements

    ...

    • Only one IPv4 and IPv6 active gateway can be configured on an SVI.

    ...

So I think, you're out of luck...

    Regards, Jö

    Hi Jo,

Thanks for the reply, looks like I will have to go away and rethink my approach.

YES. This is available starting 10.4.

Limit is 32 secondary IPv4 addresses.

    Works for IPv6 as well.

Please make sure "no ip icmp redirect" is configured as well.

Hello, I am using version 10.06.0010 on an 8325 and would like to configure a second active gateway in VLAN 1. Still, I don't know what the order was. Is there a template?

need to specific a AG VMAC and the first IP address and the second...

    ------------------------------
PowerArubaSW : Powershell Module to use Aruba Switch API for Vlan, VlanPorts, LACP, LLDP...

PowerArubaCP: Powershell Module to use ClearPass API (create NAD, Guest...)

PowerArubaCX: Powershell Module to use ArubaCX API (get interface/vlan/ports info)..

By second active gateway, I presume you mean multi-netting...

    This would be something like:

    interface vlan 10
    vsx-sync active-gateways
    ip address 10.1.10.2/24
    ip address 11.1.10.2/24 secondary
    active-gateway ip mac 12:00:00:00:01:00
    active-gateway ip 10.1.10.1
    active-gateway ip 11.1.10.1
