10G SFP+ LR (J9151E) is not detecting in Aruba 2930M switch

    Dear Team,

    We have installed 4 X 2930M switches with 4SFP+ macsec module. When I verified the status of module (show module), I can see the 4SFP+ macsec module in all switches as active. The issue is that the switches are not detecting the transceivers (10G SFP+ LR - J9151E) which are inserted on the 4SFP+ macsec module.

    Is there any special configuration required to detect the SFP transceivers on the 4SFP+ macsec module? or is there any firmware compatibility issue?

    Hi! would you be able to post the output of the show tech transceiver command?

    Are the SFP+ J9151E transceivers "genuine"?

    What is the ArubaOS-Switch software version your Aruba 2930M stack is currently running on?

    Just a note: 16.04 could be a little bit old, especially considering that now the most recent software series is 16.10 and currently developed series are basically 16.10, 16.09 and 16.08...I mean that upgrading to latest WC.16.10 could be not a bad idea (it is indeed a good idea).

    The above shouldn't be mandatory considering that a genuine J9151E is declared as supported on Aruba 2930M module no matter the software release the switch runs on.

    Just to be sure about the authenticity of purchased J9151E SFP+ LR Transceivers, have a look here. You should be able to validate them, a double check wouldn't be a bad thing.

    Hi Shamzudheen,

    There might be an issue with the transceivers. I suggest you to open a ticket with the support and to provide them the following info:

    1. The output of the "show tech transceivers" command
    2. The serial numbers of the J9151E - this will be very important for the support 

    Upgrading the SW of the switch is always a good idea, but the J9151E transceivers are supported with all SW versions of the 2930m devices - which is already confirmed by parnassus (page 52):
