    Hello Everyone,
I have a small query regarding AP 515:-
    1. I have a Aruba 8320 48 10/6 40 switch:-
    • With 10 Gig interface
    2. And i have a AP 515:-
    • With 2 interface (One is 2.5 Gig PoE and 2nd one is 1 Gig without PoE)

My Query is if i connect my AP 515 2.5 Gig port direct to 10 Gig interface of the Switch. Will that interface get the 2.5 Gig speed or 1 Gig ? And will it remain on same speed or i have to convert that switch port from auto negotiate to 10Gig ?

Hi Sandesh, the Aruba CX 8320 Switch Series doesn't support HPE SmartRate (Multi-Gigabit) ports (like the Aruba CX 6300, as example) so, supposing you're dealing with a JL581A model, the Aruba AP 515 will connect to the Aruba CX 8320 switch at 1Gbps speed (for sure not a 10Gbps since the AP 515 doesn't own a NIC port capable of running at 10Gbps).

    Hi Davide,
Thanks for the information. But AP 515 does have 2.5 Gig PoE port. So if i connect to this port, Will the AP run at 2.5 Gig ?

No. Ports on Aruba CX 8320's RJ45 model work at 1G or 10G speeds only. Speeds like 2.5G or 5G (Smart Rates) are not supported.

Hello Sandesh, only two specific models within the entire Aruba CX 6300 Switch series, have Smart Rate capable ports:

    • Aruba 6300M 48-port HPE Smart Rate 1/2.5/5GbE Class 6 PoE and 4-port SFP56 Switch (JL659A) <- 48 ports SmartRate 100M/1G/2.5G/5G BaseT Class 6 PoE ports supporting up to 60W per port
    • Aruba 6300M 24-port HPE Smart Rate 1/2.5/5GbE Class 6 PoE and 4-port SFP56 Switch (JL660A) <- 24 ports SmartRate 100M/1G/2.5G/5G BaseT Class 6 PoE ports supporting up to 60W per port
all the other SKUs have non-Smart Rate capable ports.
