    Hello all,

I tried to delete public snmp community but it did not work.
I saw this post but it does not anwer to my issue.

    Airheads Community

So when I tried to delete, I have the same error :

    Aruba-8400(config)# no snmp-server community public
Community 'public' can't be deleted, as it is linked with another configuration.

I saw in "AOS-CX 10.07 SNMP/MIB Guide" that when we create a private snmp community, it deletes public snmp communicty. So I tried (my 8400 is in 10.07 version) :

    Aruba-8400# sh run | i snmp
    [...]
    snmp-server community myprivateSNMP
    snmp-server community public
    Aruba-8400(config)# no snmp-server community myprivateSNMP
    Aruba-8400(config)# snmp-server community myprivateSNMP
    Aruba-8400(config-community)# end
    Aruba-8400# sh run | i snmp
    [...]
    snmp-server community myprivateSNMP
    snmp-server community public

    But it does not work.

In the post I linked, the best answer tells to delete snmpv3-context. But i have no snmpv3-context.

    Can someone help me ?

    Thank you in advance.

    Matthew

Hello all and best wishes for the new year,

Sorry for the delay, but I was out of office.

    My CX version is 10.07.
    Here what I tried :

    8400(config)# no snmp-server community myprivateSNMP
    8400(config)# snmp-server community myprivateSNMP
    8400(config)# no snmp-server community public
Community 'public' can't be deleted, as it is linked with another configuration.

    So it seems not working.

Thank you for your answers and your help.

    Best regards,

    Matthew

    Matthew,

Do you have any snmp traps configured that are still using public?

I just tested the same in my lab with 10.07 with no problem. I can for can force the error you listed when trying to delete a community that is referenced by a trap destination.

    Hello cclemmer,

    This is it !
    I deleted this command :

    snmp-server host x.x.x.x trap version v2c

Then I could delete community public !

Thank you very much for your help.

    Have a good day.

    Best regards,

    Matthew
