Hello All,

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of ClearPass Policy Manager 6.9.3!  In addition to bug fixes, this release also includes several new features that our Engineering and QA team have worked tirelessly to include:

New OCSP Settings

Why is this interesting? OCSP is a key part of TLS validation, especially in EAP-TLS authentication.  Customers now have the ability to adjust the parameters around OCSP failures to support faster or slower failure detection based on their needs.

API Explorer Reordering

Why is this interesting? To make it easier for administrators to locate the APIs, many parts of the API explorer were re-ordered.  This makes the API Explorer compliant with the readme.com OpenAPI tools and provides a better base for future API additions.  Reminder that these APIs are also already available at https://developer.arubanetworks.com/aruba-cppm.

NOTE:  This does NOT impact the functionality of the APIs at all.

CLI Commands for SLAAC Configuration

Why is this interesting? Stateless Address Auto-Configuration (SLAAC) was introduced in 6.9.0, but most customers do not actually want to use this functionality on their NAC.  This functionality is now disabled by default on most systems, but CLI commands can be used to manually enable or disable it as well as show the current state.

Why is this interesting? Customers can push the controller's role from Policy Manager to the ArubaOS controller via the ArubaOS-CX switch thereby facilitating dynamic segmentation.

RADIUS traffic throttling

Why is this interesting? In scenarios where an occasional, sudden increase in authentications per second might put an excessive load on the policy server, Multi-Master Cache, or Post-Authentication module, customers can set the throttling rate that can alleviate the load and ensure that the traffic is always processed. This feature is especially useful with customers using load balancers to ensure that traffic is regulated within their cluster nodes.

Agentless OnGuard Support for macOS & Linux

Why is this interesting? Agentless OnGuard, although provides the same posture analysis and remediation that the traditional Persistent Agent provides, simplifies endpoint software management by letting users avail OnGuard functionalities without having to install and manage the OnGuard agents on their Linux and macOS endpoints.

Why is this interesting? With this feature customers can now add SNMP Trap Receivers with a valid hostname as Host Address, resolvable by the DNS configuration, in addition to IP address thereby providing support for high availability.

Multiple 6.10 Enhancements in 6.9.6

Why is this interesting? Not every customer can update to the latest version of CPPM immediately, but some of the features from the release are able to be released in the 6.9.6 version for them to use already. Customers who are looking for some of enhancements that were introduced initially the 6.10 release are also available to customers who are using the 6.9.6 release. This includes the ability to Trigger CoA actions from Access Tracker, EST server configuration using tls-unique options, and the ability to collect logs during scheduled windows without being present.

This is the same functionality provided in the 6.10.0 release ported back to our 6.9.x release.  Customers need only obtain a token rather than use username/passwords that can then cause problems due to change/lock event.  This feature has been very well received in the 6.10 release and is being ported back!

Other 6.10 Back-ported Features

Why is this interesting? Several other features have been ported back from the 6.10 release to customers who are otherwise unable to update to 6.10.  Read the Release Notes for more information on these!

Event Viewer warning if RADIUS Proxy Target is down

Why is this interesting? ClearPass has alerted for AD/LDAP sources not being available for several years now, but we are not including the ability to note if a RADIUS proxy target is not available as well.  This is important for customers using remote proxy systems for RADIUS requests that may not respond in a timely manner.

Endpoint Context Server use when Insight is down

Why is this interesting? If Insight servers are not available (such as during upgrades) the context server actions to communicate information to Palo Alto Network systems are still available.  When the Insight server is back the system will automatically return to it.

Onboard works with Microsoft Intune Onboard Extension

Why is this interesting? Microsoft Intune does not include a Certificate Authority (CA) but does require a certificate for multiple workflows (view the Microsoft Intune v6 Tech Note).  This modification allows for a new ClearPass Extension "Microsoft Intune Onboard Enrollment" to be used that will then allow the ClearPass Onboard system to properly work with Intune managed clients to automatically provision certificates on managed devices against the CPPM Onboard CA.

Event Viewer warning if RADIUS Proxy Target is down

Why is this interesting? ClearPass has alerted for AD/LDAP sources not being available for several years now, but we are not including the ability to note if a RADIUS proxy target is not available as well.  This is important for customers using remote proxy systems for RADIUS requests that may not respond in a timely manner.

Endpoint Context Server use when Insight is down

Why is this interesting? If Insight servers are not available (such as during upgrades) the context server actions to communicate information to Palo Alto Network systems are still available.  When the Insight server is back the system will automatically return to it.

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of ClearPass Policy Manager 6.9.11!  This release is primary focused on resolving customer and internally found issues, but does include one new feature:

Onboard works with Microsoft Intune Onboard Extension

Why is this interesting? Microsoft Intune does not include a Certificate Authority (CA) but does require a certificate for multiple workflows (view the Microsoft Intune v6 Tech Note).  This modification allows for a new ClearPass Extension "Microsoft Intune Onboard Enrollment" to be used that will then allow the ClearPass Onboard system to properly work with Intune managed clients to automatically provision certificates on managed devices against the CPPM Onboard CA.

Event Viewer warning if RADIUS Proxy Target is down

Why is this interesting? ClearPass has alerted for AD/LDAP sources not being available for several years now, but we are not including the ability to note if a RADIUS proxy target is not available as well.  This is important for customers using remote proxy systems for RADIUS requests that may not respond in a timely manner.

Endpoint Context Server use when Insight is down

Why is this interesting? If Insight servers are not available (such as during upgrades) the context server actions to communicate information to Palo Alto Network systems are still available.  When the Insight server is back the system will automatically return to it.

Why is this interesting? With this feature customers can now add SNMP Trap Receivers with a valid hostname as Host Address, resolvable by the DNS configuration, in addition to IP address thereby providing support for high availability.

Why is this interesting? Not every customer can update to the latest version of CPPM immediately, but some of the features from the release are able to be released in the 6.9.6 version for them to use already. Customers who are looking for some of enhancements that were introduced initially the 6.10 release are also available to customers who are using the 6.9.6 release. This includes the ability to Trigger CoA actions from Access Tracker, EST server configuration using tls-unique options, and the ability to collect logs during scheduled windows without being present.
