I'm trying to deploy ClearPass 6.9.6 at a site where their existing infrastructure is using SNMP with community strings that contain special characters - annoyingly this version of ClearPass does not allow the following characters  & = . ? ; :

Changing the entire customer's existing setup is a pain.

RFC1157 (SNMPv2) and RFC1901 (SNMPv2c) does not provide any guidance or restrictions for the use of Special Characters used in the SNMP Community String.

Various infrastructure manufactures do have restrictions:
       Microsoft:   Space Tab [ ] : ; #
       Cisco:   @ :
       F5:   Space Tab, [ ] ; #
Aruba switch (v16.10.0014) does not support: Space Tab ? ~

I have have created a https://innovate.arubanetworks.com/ideas/SEC-I-1675 - please vote for it.
