We are facing an issue with an H3C-branded S5820X-28S switch running Comware Version 5.20, Release 1110P05. The "brand" or "oem" commands are not available in this version:
<sysname>b?
backup
boot-loader
bootrom
<sysname>o?
oap
<sysname>sys
System View: return to User View with Ctrl+Z.
[sysname]b?
bfd
bgp
bootrom-update
bpdu-tunnel
buffer
burst-mode
[sysname]o?
oam
ospf
ospfv3
[sysname]
I noticed that the filename for the Comware images for H3C-branded devices start with "s", while the ones for HP/HPE-branded devices start with "a". Example:
5 -rw- 31854592 Oct 08 2000 08:48:37 a5800_5820x-cmw520-r1810p06.bin --> for HP/HPE branded devices
7 -rw- 27368692 Aug 29 2000 13:26:46 a5800_5820x-cmw520-r1211p01.bin --> for HP/HPE branded devices
8 -rw- 21372116 Jun 18 2010 17:56:58 s5800_5820x-cmw520-r1110p05.bin --> for H3C branded devices
Therefore, H3C-branded devices can only boot from a Comware image whose filename start with "s". I first tried to download an H3C-branded Comware version that has the "brand" or "oem" command available from the HPE Networking software download website, but the only ones available are even older than the one that the device is currently running:
https://h10145.www1.hpe.com/downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=JC102A
Then I tried to download them from the H3C software download website, but even though I created a personal user for the H3C website, it seems in order to download special privileges for the user are required:
http://www.h3c.com.hk/Technical_Support___Documents/Software_Download/Switches/H3C_S5800_5820X_Series_Switches/H3C_S5800_5820X_Series_Switches/Default.htm
I contacted H3C and asked them how to get these special privileges for the user, and they referred me back to HPE Networking
Question: For those who where able to download an H3C-branded Comware version that has the "brand" or "oem" command available, how did you do to download it?
P.S: Admin: Moved as a new topic from Trying to upgrade firmware on a H3C/HP A5820-24XG (JC102A) and not having any success
