    Hello all,

    I had a question on how to setup a HP 2510 (j9019B)..

I have 37 of these that are going to be used in a casino and I currently have 3 vlans setup.

    1 mgmt

    20 games

    30 acres

    ports 25-26 trunk1

ports 1,3,5,7,9,etc (top portion of the switch) i have set to untagged vlan 20 for games no for the other vlans

ports 2,4,6,8,10, etc (bottom portion of the switch) i have set to untagged vlan 30 no for the other vlans

trunk1 is set to tagged for both vlans

If i am just trying to set the top row of ports and the bottom row of ports to seperate the vlans 20 and 30 and then toss the traffic from the both onto the trunk port to uplink it to a larger 48 port of the same family switch how would I go about doing this? I think that something is wrong here (gut instinct)..

    Any help would be appreciated...

    Thanks so much

    Shawn

    Hello @lvshawnlv,

Regarding the statement, 'then toss the traffic from the both onto the trunk port to uplink it to a larger 48 port of the same family switch how would I go about doing this?'

Are you connecting ports 25-26 trunk1  to uplink on 48 port switch and pass both VLAN 20 & 30 from trunk 1 port?

If yes then I believe their might be no issue.

    Thanks!

Yes, However if they are going to be in a stack configuration for easy management will they be able to communicate with eachother on the trunk ports if set as described?

    Hello @lvshawnlv,

I believe yes, it will be able to communicate.

    Thanks!

    VLAN 1
    name mgmt
    untagged trunk1

    VLAN 20
    name games
    untagged 1,3,5,7,9,etc
    tagged trunk1

    VLAN 30
    name acres
    untagged 2,4,6,8,10,etc
    tagged trunk1

You would untagg the mgmt VLAN on all uplinks and tagg all vlans across those uplinks.
By default all VLANs can communicate to each other until an ACL is put in place at the router.
No ip address assigned on the layer 2 switches except the mgmt (unless you are using OOB management)
