Equal-cost multi-path (ECMP) gives ability to take multiple routes with the same cost that were traditionally only use one of the routes and give the ability to load balance the across multiple links.
We can say these routes to implement equal-cost multi-path (ECMP) load sharing. The forwarding engine identifies paths by next-hop. When forwarding a packet the router must decide which next-hop (path) to use.
Default ECMP mode enables devices to rellocate all traffic to the remaining routes whereas enhanced ECMP mode reallocate only the traffic of the failed routes to the remaining routes.
Can say fast reroute with load sharing.

Can anyone better explain what "ecmp mode enhanced" really enables?
The docs say:

Which isn't too clear to me... Does it enable/disable some hardware-based "fast reroute" type functionality?
