I recently acquired a 6600ml-24XG (J9265A) and am trying to connect it to my network.

    I checked the compatibility here
Document - HPE 6600 Switch Series - Option Parts | HPE Support

and purchased a HP X121 1G SFP LC SX Transceiver J4858C

Upon pluging it into the switch I am getting "Transceiver type not % supported in this port" The transceiver is in the supported list so I'm not sure what i'm missing. Anyone have any Ideas or documentation they can point me to?

Hi, check first if your J9265A is currently running the latest available software released for that switch series (K.15.18.0024) and then perform a show tech transceivers to see how/if it is capable of recognizing it correctly (it should).

We're implying that the particular SFP 1G LC Short Range Transceiver you're using is truly HP genuine.

For documentation/software please check asp.arubanetworks.com and support.hpe.com websites.

For checking supported Transceivers have a look at Aruba Transceivers and DACs guide (currently at its 11th edition).

The following transceivers have extra information:

Port 1 Transceiver type not supported in this port.

for testing purposes I pugged the transceiver into another switch and it showed up fine

if this is a counterfeit transceiver they sure did a good job faking it since the packaging even had the HP seals on it.

I think I found the guide you mentioned and if I'm reading it right it looks like this particular switch only supports SFP+ which means this is going to be much more difficult to use the way I wanted to use it.
