We have a setup with aruba wireless access points. We are trying to use iPads and connect with wireless Brother printers. It works great as long as they are connected to the same access point, but if the iPad is on a different access point than the brother than it will not find it. I cannot ping devices across different APs either. I think theres a few other issues in the building also related to this.

We're running an Aruba Virtual controller 6.5.4.4

I have deny inter user bridging disabled and my broadcast filtering is set to all.

    Change broadcast filtering to "none".

I tried that, but it doesn't seem to help. Is there another place to change this other than in the WLAN settings? I don't see one anywhere.

Are the clients on the same layer 2 VLAN as the printers?

Yeah... As long as everything is connected to the same access point it works perfect. There’s just a couple sets that sit right on the brink of two different ap’s and if the ipad is on one ap and the printer on the other, then ipad doesn’t find the printer

What mechanism does the ipad use to find the printer?

I assume it connects using airprint. But it’s actually an app Planning Center Check-ins that connects to and prints to the printer.

Does the client have any problems pinging the printer when it is on a different access point?

yes, pinging does not work across APs

I don't understand.  Can you ping the printer when the client is on one access point and the printer is on another access point?  Is the printer wireless?

To be clear; if pinging of the devices is not successful, we need to understand why that happens first.

I cannot ping the printer when it is on another AP. The printer is wireless.

Ok.  Is the printer in the same layer 2 subnet? If that is the case, we need to figure that out,first...

    yes it is.

Do you have any ACLs on your WLAN between clients?  By default there should not be anything blocking that traffic.

No everything is open within the subnet.

That is unusual.  I would open a TAC case, if you could.
