    Hello,

With the 7xxx series controllers there is cpboot which allows to perform maintenance operations such as updating images ...
But with the 9004 series there is no more cpboot. Is there anything that would replace these features?

    regardes

What is your specific use case? Is there a reason why you need to upgrade prior to the gateway coming up?

    Hello,

We have a fairly pragmatic controler preparation procedure.
All controllers whether they are new or comming back from a customer ( with configuration , password etc ) are formatted and  firmware updated to a certain version. Then we do the configuration.
So we are sure that the control is leaving with the correct firmware and the correct configuration.
All this is done with a program via the serial port.
By having the correct firmware before configuration, we are sure that all configuration commands passed to the controller are OK.
This is not the case with all different firmware versions.
cpboot is very handy for this. It is a simple, reproducible environment.
This is not the case when the controller has booted, whether it has firmware 8.5 or 8.6 or x.x.
And with 9004 we have to reset it manually.

To be honest, the 9000 series controllers are geared towards SDWAN/Central and the firmware is typically centrally managed.  The 7000 series smaller controller still have cpboot.
