hello Airheads,
we have a customer who wants to go from a version 6.5 controller system to a version 8 Mobility Conductor\Mobility Controller
deployment.
The AP's do not have a static IP address they are all DHCP (60 AP's).
So.. the plan is to install a VM Mobility conductor and 7030 controllers.
We do not have accessto the old version 6.5 controllers (long story!!).
After installing the new system we would unplug the AP from it's old network cabinet and plug into new the AP would reboot and
get new DHCP address and then (through ADP or DNS) the AP would discover the new system upgrade it's code and appear on the
V8 system.
Does this sound ok ?

The first question would be are you going to assign the IP addresses of "old" controllers to the new ones?

Hi Pete,

There shouldn't be any problems with this approach. We've done it in several locations where the APs from one office (running on 6.5) would be used in the other one (running on 8.7). The only difference from your scenario is that we used DHCP Option 43 (and 60) as a discovery method.
