Can anyone explain what effect "speed-mode" would have on a mobility controller interface?

    (MM) ^[00:0b:86:b7:46:4f] (config-submode)#speed-mode ?
    10Gbps Interface speed-mode as '10Gbps'
    1Gbps Interface speed-mode as '1Gbps'
    40Gbps Interface speed-mode as '40Gbps'

I have a mobility controller connected to the upstream switch using fiber and 10G SFPs, and it appears the line speed is negotiating to the expected speed without any "speed-mode" setting applied.

(MD) [MDC] #show interface gigabitethernet 0/0/5
GE 0/0/5 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is 10 Gigabit Ethernet, address is 00:0B:86:B7:46:55 (bia 00:0B:86:B7:46:55)
    Description: Gigabit-Level (Fiber Connector)
    Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
    speed (10 Gbps)
MTU 1500 bytes, BW is 10000 Mbit
Last clearing of "show interface" counters 3 day 0 hr 39 min 46 sec
link status last changed 3 day 0 hr 36 min 27 sec
    44085889 packets input, 8147888286 bytes
    Received 13547225 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
0 input error bytes, 0 CRC, 0 frame
    9238763 multicast, 30538664 unicast
    13504402 packets output, 1938058210 bytes
0 output errors bytes, 0 deferred
    0 collisions, 0 late collisions, 0 throttles
    This port is TRUSTED

The ArubaOS 8.6.0.0 CLI Reference Guide states that the 10G and 40G modes are only configurable on specific interfaces, but (to me) that seems to be more platform dependent.  Otherwise, not a lot of info in that guide to indicate what effect this has.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

For what i can read from the ArubaOS CLI Reference Guide.

"NOTE: This parameter is applicable only to Aruba 7280 controllers."

This command is used to force operation of a 10Gbps SFP port to 1Gbps on 7280 platforms (following a required reboot); there is no use for this command on any other controller platform.
