    Hi everyone:

I'm new to Aruba Wi-Fi networks and the Airheads community, so please bear with...

We are looking at designing a Wi-Fi deployment for a customer across 3 different sites, with two of the sites having approx. 200 APs each and the 3rd site around 30 APs, making the system total of approx 430 APs. The planned APs are going to be the AP-505.  The APs are all planned to be controller managed.

Our initial proposal was to use a pair of 7205s for each of the site in a HA setup.  However, the customer wanted all the APs of the 3 sites to be centrally managed (they are able to provide high speed dark fibre links between the sites) therefore we looked at using a pair of 7210 mobility controllers in a HA setup.  Given that we needed to carry out some PoC on this design, we have ordered a 7210 mobility controller and 2x AP-505 for our PoC.

Now, the customer came back and said they have agreed to proceed with our original design, so we are now looking at getting another controller for the HA setup in our PoC.

As such, my question is, whether are we able to pair a 7205 with a 7210 in a HA cluster?  I guess if this is possible then the HA system limits would be constrained by the 7205 rather than the 7210 (for example, the system would support a max of 256 APs rather than 512).

Any ideas/thoughts on the above would be appreciated.

    Thanks very much.

    Cheers
    Chuck

Best way would be to deploy Mobility Conductor pair for management (one MM per big location for HA) and one pair of Mobility Controllers per site. Don't use HA. You will have much more benefits with MM/MC configuration and you will have central management for the whole environment.

If you manage the controllers with a mobility conductor, you can cluster them. The APs will be load balanced, mostl@y preferring the 7210 to terminate most of the APs automatically. But like you said, if the 7210 goes down, your stuck with the 7205 limits. Two 7210s would be ideal.
