I have 6 AP aruba 207 in different departments in the office, but some laptops are randomly connected to distant APs, whereas APs are close to laptops.

    how to fix it?

    Please help

Try lowering the ARM maximum transmit power on your access points.

The client decides what access point it connects to.  You can make that more predictable by making fewer access points visible to that client, by lowering the access points transmit power gradually.  If your access points transmit power are at 18 or more and/or are close together, that could cause the effect you are seeing.

That is my best educated guess without more information.

by adjusting the max transmit power rate, it affects the cell size of the wireless.

In layman terms, with a smaller cell size, clients will be inclined to communicate with the cloest access point due to signal broadcasted from each AP. And that should resolve the issue.
