As I am configuring multizone the following message gets displayed:

Does this mean that if my Primary Zone controllers are configured in a L2 Cluster for failover that I can't user Multizone?

No, it means that the "old" HA feature is unsupported.

The normal AOS 8 clustering is supported, just make sure you select the correct number of cluster nodes per zone.

    This is the old HA:

Thank you for the quick reply.  So if I have an L2-Cluster with 2 nodes in the primary zone I just need to have the node count as 2.

    Correct.

You can verify if there is a problem connecting to all cluster nodes with the cli command:

show ap debug multizone ap-name <ap>

The "L" flag will warn you if there is a problem with the number of nodes.
