I assume I can't just add the AP-515 due to the version mismatch.

Is there a migration guide or do I have to create a new Instant cluster with the AP-515?

I can get in to the AP-515 via SSH via admin/admin but interestingly I can't login to the WebUI with either admin or the serial number.  I've done a factory reset on the AP-515.

You would have to create the network from scratch, unfortunately, because the IAP-205 cannot run on 8.4.0.0 and the AP-515 cannot run on 6.5.4.17.

I would put the AP-515 on a different subnet and attempt to connect to it once again.

Could I import the config from the 6.5.x.x controller to keep most of the settings (WLANS et al) or is that asking for trouble?

I have never tried that.  You can certainly try....
