I have a 3200 controller with several RAP5 and RAP2 connecting to it. I also have a larger branch office and I would like to make it behave like a RAP not a controller. I would like it it to go get its configurations from the 3200.
I wanted to do this because I wanted more throughput then a RAP 5 offers because of wired VoIP not wifi.
Can this be done or do I have to recreate vlans and SSIDs on the 651 as well?
If it can be configured like this. How do you change the operating mode?
I'm just not seeing the logic in what im being told by the company installing this.
You can't really do that. However, you can build an IPsec site to site tunnel from the 651 to the 3200. You can also enable the 651 to be a local controller. Once done, the wlan config will be pushed from the 3200 to the 651/
ok so I have a hardware VPN establised curently connecting both sites. So the 651 (192.x.x.x) and 3200 (10.x.x.x) can see each other. can the 651 not get all its configurations from the 3200. so it uses the same SSID, authetications vlans. or does it have to be configed standalone.
I would like it to behave like a AP on the other side of the firewall. (like a RAP minus the vpn)
If you add it as a local controller, it will get the same wireless config (SSID, VAP, AAA profiles, AP Groups) as the Master. If you run in standalone, you will have to recreate that.
